Remember 2018? 2020 even? After the capitulation of Bernie Sanders in 2016 to seede to Hillary Clinton many people felt inspired to fight establishment politicians or local and federal office. AOC won, and Trump called out a "squad" of multi ethnic female congresswomen who challenged his comic portrayal as a fascist. DSA membership was at an all time high (how else could you say were a socialist and have it mean something if you didn't have a laminated ID card proclaiming your leftists bona fides?).
Here we are, just 8 years after the hope of Bernie led us to the hope of 2020 that dissolved into COVID stratification (masks vs no masks, etc.) protests, and a "return to normalcy" with the election of Joe Biden in 2020. Was it a return to normal? Or was it an aberration, and the real return to normal is Trump 2024? We'll discuss.
